Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Sericaia, available on the web and as an iOS app. By creating an account or otherwise using Sericaia, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Sericaia.

The service

Sericaia lets you log restaurant visits, rate and review them, build ranked lists, and follow other users to discover new places through their taste. Restaurant details and photos shown in Sericaia are sourced from Google's Places API and may not always be fully accurate or current.

Your account

• You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it up to date.
• You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account.
• One account per person. You may not share your account or transfer it to someone else.
• You must be at least 13 years old to use Sericaia.

Your content

You own the reviews, photos, lists, and other content you post to Sericaia ("User Content"). By posting it, you grant Sericaia a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, and display that content as part of operating the service — for example, showing your public review to other users or including your photo on a restaurant's page. This license ends when you delete the specific content or your account, except where it has already been shown to, or shared with, another user in the ordinary course of using Sericaia before deletion.

You're solely responsible for your User Content. Don't post anything you don't have the rights to, or anything that violates someone else's rights.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Post content that is illegal, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, or abuse Sericaia's systems or API beyond normal use of the app.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another user's account or content.
• Use Sericaia to spam, defraud, or harm other users.

Authentic reviews

Reviews must reflect a genuine dining experience. Content that is misleading, fraudulent, abusive or intended to manipulate rankings may be removed.

That includes reviewing a restaurant you haven't been to, being paid or otherwise compensated to post a review without saying so, posting on behalf of a restaurant about itself or a competitor, and using more than one account to inflate or suppress a rating. Ratings on Sericaia are only worth anything if they come from people who actually ate the food.

Content moderation and removal

We may remove content or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, without prior notice, at our discretion.

Ending your account

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings (web) or your Profile (mobile app). Account deletion is immediate and permanent — see our Privacy Policy for details on what that means for your data.

Suspension

If an account breaks these Terms — most often the acceptable-use rules above — we may suspend it. Suspension is not the same as deletion, and we describe it plainly here because it affects what other people can see:

• You will not be able to sign in, on the web or in the app. Any sessions already open are ended immediately rather than left to expire.
• Your visits, reviews, comments and dish entries stop appearing anywhere in Sericaia — your profile, other people's feeds, search results and restaurant pages.
• That content is hidden, not deleted. We keep it so the decision can be reviewed, and so it can be restored in full if the suspension is lifted or turns out to be a mistake.
• Individual reviews or comments may also be hidden on their own, without the account being suspended.

If you think a suspension or a removal was wrong, email support@sericaia.app and say so. Lifting a suspension restores everything it hid. Anything removed separately, on its own merits, stays removed unless that decision is reversed too.

You can still ask us to delete a suspended account, and we will. Deletion is permanent and removes the retained content as well.

Disclaimers

Sericaia is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that restaurant information sourced from third parties is accurate, complete, or current, and we're not responsible for your experience at any restaurant listed on Sericaia.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sericaia will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you use Sericaia as a consumer resident in the EU, this does not deprive you of the protections of the mandatory law of the country where you live.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
